Anomaly: The Clique

A new black-comedy horror show in the style of Murder Most Horrid and Tales of the Unexpected. Each week features a different story based around the thrills and horrors of being a (Statistics) PhD student.

The Clique

A male orientated and academic parody of the witty, dark classics Mean Girls and Heathers which uncovers how famous academics really generate a large number of publications each year.

Miller is attending a famous statistical conference in Bermuda and doesn't know any other delegates. Upon his arrival, he is approached by a trio of very serious academics, who he has cited in his who and is in admiration of their research.

As the conference progresses, Miller starts to become increasingly nervous of all the attention the academics are making so that he enjoys the conference. First it started with having lunch with them each day. Then it was the bar outing and his statistical knowledge under the influence of alcohol. Then it was the papers race where each member of the group has to write an entirely new paper within an evening and submit it to a highly regarded journal, and who gets the least scathing reviews. Miller succeeds in every one of these events to which the clique of academics sinisterly smile at.

And then suddenly Miller, disappears the next day to which the trio of academics have no recollection of where he is. We cut to Miller, locked in a dark cellar with other previous fellow young intelligent academics, churning out papers under the names of the sinister trio of academics, whilst the academics villianesque-ly laugh at from the top of the stairs.

Tossed salad and scrambled eggs.
